Course content
1. Basic terms, definition and laws of geometrical optics, ideal optical system (OS), stigmatic imaging of a point 2. Geometric theory of imaging in paraxial space - Gaussian optics 3. Limitation of ray beams and diffraction effects of OS 4. History of design of OS, possible structuring and general procedure for a design of OS, tracing of rays of OS 5. Basic aberration of OS and evaluation of quality of OS 6. Siedel theory of aberration in the third-order space 7. Thin lens in air 8. Principles of correction of basic aberration of OS 9. Analytical designs of simple OS 10. Fine corrections of OS, optimization 11. Three-element OS enabling correction of all basic aberration of OS
