- Basics of radiometry and photometry - Internal and external photoelectric phenomenon, general properties of detectors of light, quantum efficiency, noise bandwidth - PIN photodiodes and avalanche diodes, regimes of operation, fast PIN detectors, homodyne detector - Photomultipliers, avalanche photodiodes, detection of individual photons - Scientific CCD cameras, intensified CCD cameras and EMCCD cameras - Special detectors of photons for quantum optics

Learning outcomes
|
The subject treats physical fundamentals of detection of light and describes construction and operation of both common and specialized detection devices.
Knowledge Recall internal and external photoelectric effect, describe various types of light detectors, find a suitable light detector for a particular application.
