Course content |
1. Criteria for organic reactions classification and types of reaction components 2. Methods for reaction mechanism elucidation 3. Electrofilic addition: mechanism and stereochemistry, synthetic application. AE leading to halogenderivatives, oxygen and sulphur species 4. Nucleophilic addition: addition to carbonyl group, mechanisms, catalysis types. AN to aldehydes and ketones (oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur nucleophiles), aldolization/aldol condensation, AN to iminocompounds (Mannich synthesis and related reactions), AN to carboxylic acids and their functional derivatives, AN to carbonic acid derivatives, AN to nitriles, cumulated and conjugated systems, AN to N=O and S=O bond, pseudobasicity 5. Radical additions: radical formation, types of radicals, mechanism and different types of starting compounds 6. Cycloadditions: classification, Ac leading to 3 - 6 membered rings, catalytic reduction 7. Nucleophilic substitution: types of SN and their mechanisms, aliphatic and aromatic SN, stereochemistry, key factors, examples of reactions with C,N,O,S-nucleophiles 8. Electrophilic substitution: aromatic SE, mechanism and classification according to the reactivity of electrophile and aromate, types of SE 9. Elimination reactions: mechanism types, stereochemistry of products, dehydrohalogenation, dehalogenation, dehydration, cleavage of quaternary ammonia hydroxides, E1cb reaction. Cis-eliminaton - thermal cleavage of esters and xanthogenates
