Course content
The course introduces students to the concepts of low-level programming for user applications. The course focuses on advanced C programming and an introduction to assembly language programming on the ARM platform. 1. C program structure, the compilation process, compilation and debugging tools 2. static and dynamic linking, dynamic loading of libraries 3. creating libraries 4. memory management and selected operating system functions 5. Introduction to assembly language programming for ARM processors 6. inline and external assembly, Intel and AT&T syntax 7. control flow, subroutine calls, calling conventions 8. processor-level memory management, bitwise operations, and bit manipulation tricks 9. direct communication with various types of I/O devices
