Geosciences primarily study the planet Earth and its various sections. One of the basic issues is the relationship between natural environment and people, their mutual dependencies. Another issue are characteristic interconnection between natural components when anthropogenic impact on one component affects, often unexpectedly, remaining components. Students will learn basic information on mutual relationship between physical-geographical components, particular rock bed, terrain, soil and vegetation cover defining the landscape diversity, on negative anthropogenic impacts on the landscape (land requirements, agriculture, soil and vegetation degradation, changes in micro climate, etc.), on the role of greenery in people's environment (particularly urban), on territorial systems of ecological stability (including their role in spatial planning), on designed landscape, and finally on the conflicts between people and landscape (including current deforestation, drought, etc.). The topic will be demonstrated in Olomouc and its vicinity. The course will aim the interest of students at particular issues in geosciences, which can be developed in their further study.
