Learning outcomes
|
The main objective of the course is to familiarize students with the basic principles of environmental geography, the interrelationships between the natural and socioeconomic components of the landscape, and the major environmental problems facing the world today, including possible solutions at the local, regional, and global levels. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: - understand the basic concepts of environmental geography and their interrelationships - explain the relationships between natural processes and human activities in the landscape - describe the main components of the environment - identify and analyze major environmental issues - critically assess the impacts of human activities on the landscape and propose measures to mitigate their negative effects.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: - explain the basic principles of environmental geography and their significance for environmental assessment; - assess the impacts of natural processes and human activities on the landscape and environmental quality; - apply basic geographical approaches to identifying and analyzing environmental problems; - use geographical data, maps, and environmental indicators when solving professional tasks; - propose basic measures to promote environmental protection and the sustainable use of the landscape; - engage in informed discussions on current environmental issues, drawing on relevant scientific knowledge.

Prerequisites
|
Students should: - have a basic knowledge of physical and socioeconomic geography; - be familiar with the basic natural science disciplines (ecology, biology, geology, hydrology, meteorology, and climatology); - understand basic geographical concepts and be able to work with maps; - have a basic ability to work with academic texts, tables, graphs, and thematic maps; - be proficient in basic information technology skills (word processor, spreadsheet program, online information sources); - be able to study independently and critically evaluate information.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students will be familiar with the course material at least to the extent covered in the lectures and seminars. Course Credit - At least 80% attendance in class sessions - Submission of all assigned assignments by the specified deadlines - Successful completion of the course credit test Exam - Written format
