Course content
Students will be acquianted with the evolution of the discipline and its position within geography. Basic terms and concepts, structure and funcions of landscape, its evolution and conservation, as well as the relation between humans and landscape will be discussed. Exercises will deal with basic landscape characteristics of selected areas, eg. ethnographic regions of the Czech Republic.

Learning outcomes
The aim is to present in theory and apply in practice the basic principles and methods of landscape ecology.
Recognise synthetic character of geographical sphere.
Prerequisites
Knowledge within the scope of compulsory subjects that precede this subject in the study plan.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Written exam

Credit requirements: elaboration of a semestral paper work meeting all requirements in an adequate quality and scope, presentation of a paper as part of the tutorial, participation in tutorials. Examination requirements: knowledge within the range of lectures and literature.
