Course content
|
In theoretical part of course following issues are solved: graphical representation of (carto)graphic phenomena and their analysis; basic components of GIS, hardware demands and possibilities of use of modern technologies, software solutions and GIS software producers, data and data models in geoinformatics, geodata sources and technology and use of GPS. Practical part is aimed at work in computer laboratory and is concerned with: map servers, freeware GIS software (QGIS) and its application in thematic map creation, freeware GIT apliactions, GPS mapping.

Learning outcomes
|
Course is oriented as a course to acquaint student with usage of basics of Geographical Information Systems in Geography with an emphasis on the ability of practical use in geography.
Recall and be able to apply the basic concepts and methods of GIS related to future career as teacher.

Prerequisites
|
Basic knowledge in the field of information technology at the high school level. Ability to work independently on the computer.
