Course content
1) Introduction: Data and their use in geography 2) Domestic institutions I .: Czech Statistical Office 3) Domestic institutions II .: MLSA, justice.cz, ÚZEI, ÚZIS, ÚHUL, ČÚZK, etc. 4) International institutions: EUROSTAT, World Bank, OSCE, UN, WHO, etc. 5) Data sources for landscape analysis: CZSO, INSPIRE, LMS, old maps, LUCC, CORINE Land Cover 6) Repetition and summary of data sources 7) Questionnaire survey as the main source of primary data 8) Basic statistical concepts, types of characters 9) Frequency processing of the statistical file, contingency tables 10) Basic statistical characteristics 11) Introduction to the analysis of the dependences of two statistical features I. 12) Introduction to the analysis of the dependences of two statistical features II.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic sources of geographic data and methods of their processing, in the context of practical applications in teaching. Emphasis will be placed on orientation in publicly available data related to both physical and human geography. Students will practice basic methods of descriptive statistics on the basis of these data. In addition, students will learn about the phases of preparing and conducting a questionnaire survey and, above all, the methods of its evaluation.
Get acquainted with the basic sources of secondary data with a geographical theme and apply basic statistical methods for their processing.

Requirements: obtaining a sufficient number of points from the ongoing tasks. Exam requirements: knowledge in the scope of lectures, exercises and study literature.
