1. Mineralogy. Crystals and their properties, physical properties of minerals, chemical properties of minerals. Determination of minerals. Demonstration and individual experiments from mineralogy (crystal growth, production of axial crosses of crystal systems, models of crystals, practical determination of mineral properties, practical determination of minerals). 2. Petrology. Mineral composition of rocks. Determination of rocks. Optical microscopy of rocks. Demonstration and individual experiments from petrology (determination of rock properties, determination of rocks). 3. General geology. Structure of the Earth, shapes of the Earth's surface, continuous and discontinuous structures. Pedology. Demonstration and individual experiments in general geology (erosion, sedimentation, grading, tectonic models, pedological probes). 4. Paleontology. An overview of the evolution of life on Earth. Determination of fossils. Demonstration and individual experiments in paleontology (fossil casting, basic environmental reconstruction, fossil determination). 5. Technical means used in geology teaching. 6. Problems of school experiments in geology. 7. Utilization of models in practical geology education. 8. Possibilities of practical training outside of school. 9. School excursion from geology and its preparation. 10. Reflection of geological experiments.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is intended for students of geology and environmental teaching. Individual practical experiments usable in school practice are discussed in the course.
Students will acquire laboratory and technical skills, ability to prepare, perform and interpret demonstration experiment, ability to interpret fundamental experiments on mineralogy, petrology, general geology, paleontology. The student should be able to explain the function principle of technical devices used in geological practice.
