Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture
Learning outcomes
An overview of rock-forming minerals and individual genetic types of rocks.
The students will: - increase their knowledge of main rock-forming minerals - be able to describe methods of petrographic study of rocks - acquire thorough theoretical and practical knowledge of systematic petrography (all common rock types) - become aware of the genesis of magmatic, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks - define the principles of rocks classification systems
Prerequisites
unspecified
KGE/MIP1

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Credit: theoretical knowledge will be checked by written test. Successful test is followed by recognition of rock samples. Exam: problems presented in courses KGE/MIP1 and KGE/MIP2.
