Introduction to problems of geological maps and geological mapping.
The students are able to: - define geological map, classify and characterize geological maps - describe the history geological mapping on the territory of the Czech Republic, and the organization of geological mapping in the Czech Republic - explain the essentials of geological mapping, project and preparatory phase, field phase, orientation in the field, orientation- and detailed mapping routes, documentation points - describe the principles of documentation of structural elements, mapping of contacts, faults and the Quaternary - describe the components of the laboratory phase, the relation of empirical and theoretical methods, geological modelling - explain the peculiarities of the research of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rock complexes in field and laboratory phases - apply statistical methods to data acquired in such research - explain the essentials of small scale tectonics and structural geology
