Nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative field with high potential to develop various industries including oil and gas. This course, Nanotechnology in the Oil and Gas Industry, is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the applications, benefits, and challenges associated with integrating nanotechnology in this sector. Throughout the course, participants will be attracted into the fundamental principles of nanotechnology and explore its relevance to the oil and gas industry. They will get enough knowledge to classify different types of nanomaterials that can be applied in the industry, such as nanoparticles, nanocomposites, nanocatalysts, nanotubes, nanosensors and nanofibers. Thus, they will be able to explore how these nanoscale technologies can enhance exploration, production and refining processes. In addition, the participants of this course will learn how to synthesize some relevant functionalized nanomaterials and nanofluids, such as polymer-based nanoparticles, nanocomposites of iron oxides and polymer. The challenges and mechanisms of applying these nanomaterials in the industry will be focused along with their economic and environmental feasibility. 1. Introduction to nanotechnology 2. Classification of nanomaterials (functionalized nanomaterials) 3. Application in petroleum processing 4. Oil recovery mechanisms of nanomaterials 5. Desulfurization 6. Nanocatalyst application 7. Nano-drilling mechanism 8. Challenges and problems of the nanotechnology 9. Nanofluids 10. Economic and environmental feasibility
