Course content
The practicum includes experiments focused on: - the experimental determination of the Poisson constant of gases (using the Flammersfeld oscillator and the Clément-Désormes method), - the study of gas isoprocesses (including verification of the ideal gas equation of state and isothermal, isochoric, and isobaric processes), - the experimental determination of the viscosity of liquids (using capillary and Höppler viscometers), - the experimental determination of the surface tension of liquids (using the ring and drop methods), - the study of calorimetry (including the experimental determination of the heat capacity of a Dewar vessel and the specific latent heat of fusion of ice), - the study of heat conduction (including the determination of the coefficient of thermal conductivity of a rod), - the study of the anomalous behaviour of water (using Hope's experiment), - the study of linear and volumetric thermal expansion of solids and liquids, - the study of the absorption properties of substances.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Laboratory Work
Learning outcomes
The course focuses on developing students' ability to apply knowledge acquired in the field of molecular physics and thermodynamics.
Students are able to apply theoretical knowledge of molecular physics and thermodynamics, work with various experimental setups, collaborate in solving experimental tasks, process the obtained results, and discuss them, including their uncertainties.
Prerequisites
Students are expected to have basic knowledge of molecular physics and thermodynamics.
KEF/MFTX

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance

During the first week of classes, students are required to attend the introductory session of the molecular physics and thermodynamics practicum and complete laboratory safety training. Students are also required to complete all prescribed experiments, successfully pass all entry tests, prepare and have all reports approved, and prepare and have one laboratory protocol approved.
