Learning outcomes
Familiarize yourself with microorganism cultivation techniques, techniques used in down-stream processing, as well as selected methods for recombinant protein analyses. Students work in groups under the guidance of professional staff..
After completing this course, the student will gain theoretical and practical experience in the areas of: cultivation of microorganisms, induced protein expression, extraction and purification of recombinant proteins, methods for determining protein concentration, as well as methods for determining SOD enzyme activity (both gel-free and gel-based procedures).
Prerequisites
Master's studies in biologically or chemically oriented fields at the Faculty of Science, UP. A basic knowledge of microorganism handling techniques is recommended.
Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Seminar Work
100% attendance, completion of experimental tasks, preparation of a presentation with an appropriate interpretation of the obtained results, which will be evaluated by the instructors.
