Course content
Acquaintance with research directions at the department. Repetition and deepening of the knowledge acquired in the completed KBC/BCH lecture (Fundamentals of Biochemistry). Familiarization with research work in the laboratory and preparation for experimental work in the laboratory. Overview of basic biochemical methods, theoretical preparation of selected basic laboratory methods used in biochemistry. Discussion on the use of laboratory methods and solving practical problems. Output: As part of the project activity - resolved individual projects, or teams formed. Increasing the competitiveness of graduates on the labor market, strengthening self-confidence, independent thinking and the ability to engage in discussion.

Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Group work
  • Homework for Teaching - 20 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Course Credit - 10 hours per semester
  • Attendace - 26 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Students repeat topics from the KBC/UBC Introduction to Biochemistry lecture and then solve reasoning and numerical examples. The aim of the seminar is to learn how to use theoretical knowledge when solving practical tasks. Potential alternative solutions to the examples are discussed.
Deepening the knowledge gained by attending the KBC/UBCH lecture.
Prerequisites
For students of the 2nd year of the Bioinformatics study program.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student

The condition for obtaining credit is 100% attendance at the seminar (with the option to substitute one absence for serious reasons / alternative seminar work). As part of project-based learning, participation in discussions and presentation on a selected topic is required.
