Course content
|
Structure and function of proteins. Enzymes. Saccharides. Lipids and cell membranes. Catalytic strategies. Regulatory strategies. Regulation of metabolic pathways: glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, citrate cycle, oxidative phosphorylation, light reactions of photosynthesis, Calvin cycle, pentose phosphate pathway, metabolism of glycogen, metabolism of fatty acids, protein turnover and catabolism of amino acids, biosynthesis of amino acids, biosynthesis and degradation of nucleotides. Replication of DNA, recombination and correction. RNA synthesis and its function. Protein synthesis. Functions of tRNA, mRNA and ribosomes. Prokaryotic and eukaryotic synthesis of proteins. Inhibitors of protein biosynthesis. Regulation of gene expression. Integration and regulation of mammalian energetic metabolism.

Successful graduated studium of Bachelor of Science and Magister of Science in Biochemistry.

Oral examination - successfuly answered three questions of general knowledge.
