Course content
|
Regulation at the level of the cell and intercellular communication. Types of signaling molecules and intercellular signaling in eukaryotes. Hormone metabolism. Signal transduction mechanisms mediated by surface receptors. Regulatory mechanisms involved in the control of metabolic pathways. Regulation of carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism. Regulation of metabolic pathways during nutrient intake, short-term and long-term starvation. Convergence, divergence and crosstalk of different signaling pathways. Pathological state of the organism - regulation of metabolic events.

|
Generalization of metabolic pathways, regulation of metabolism, transport systems of cells, signaling pathways.
Define the main terms, describe the basic regulatory, signaling and transport pathways in a living organism.

|
In the course of the studies so far, basic information from biochemistry has been acquired.
