Course content

- Viruses - pathogens; resistance to viral infection/the immune system; prevention and prophylaxis of infections; basic epidemiological concepts - Infectious viral diseases in childhood - Respiratory tract viral infections and eye infections - Viral gastroenteritis - Viral hepatitis - Human herpesviruses - Viruses and tumours - Arboviruses and dangerous viral diseases - Legislation governing mandatory reporting, isolation, quarantine, hygiene measures and penalties for the spread of viral diseases.

Learning outcomes
|
Introducing students to problems of human virology: human viral diseases, clinical and pathological aspects of viral infections, their epidemiology, and prevention of viral infections.
Student will be able (after attending the course): - describe main human viral diseases, and their classification - describe the basic clinical and pathological aspects of viral pathogenesis, their epidemiology, and prevention and control against their spreading - explicate and discuss findings and realization of control and/or preventive measurement

Written exam
Written test extent of the lectures, min. 70%.
