Course content
|
Repeating of basic knowledge of spoken and written English obtained in secondary school. English grammar is repeated and developed using the textbook English Grammar in Use (Cambridge University Press), Raymond Murphy. The content of the textbook is supplemented by chemical terms (proteosynthesis, enzymes) and biological ones (gene engineering, GMO). The attention is paid to understanding the texts: reading and translation of scientific texts. Lessons include reading and analysis of current papers from international scientific journals e. g. Science, Nature etc. The students should be able to understand the text in whole context, analyse it, discuss it and give an overview.

Improving of knowledge of basic spoken and scientific English.
Student is able to (after attending the course): - Read and translate scientific texts, orient in the text. - Understand the main line of the text, read it, analyse it and discuss it.
