Course content
The course takes the form of frontal teaching by experts on the given topics, supplemented by subsequent discussion between the teacher and students. Principles and objectives of sustainable development (SD), how to measure SD; global climate change, biodiversity, sustainable water management, circular economy and carbon neutrality, sustainable mobility, smart cities, value and social aspects of SD. Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce the concept of sustainability and to show how its main principles intersect in many aspects and can be applied in everyone's daily life. The lecturers will try to convince the audience that sustainability is not just a modern cliché, but that we can contribute to sustainability in our everyday personal and professional lives and at the same time motivate our environment and change organisations and companies through our activities.
A subject aimed to acquire knowledge, to acquire the ability to analyse information. At the end of the course, the student is expected to: - have a deeper understanding of the principles of sustainability and sustainable development - know how to implement sustainable living in everyday practice, whether in personal or professional life - have an overview of the social and environmental aspects of sustainability and its ethics, the diverse communities inhabiting aquatic habitats and their adaptations to the specific conditions of particular habitats - be able to read and critically evaluate professional and lay publications on climate change and sustainability.
