Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop the ability to identify common and ecologically significant species of vascular plants in the Czech Republic.
Student should be able to (after attending the course): - Identify common and phytogeographically and phytosociologically significant vascular plant species in the Czech Republic. - Explain their basic taxonomic, ecological, and chorological characteristics. - Use identification keys. - Apply the acquired knowledge in teaching students at the selected educational level. - Justifies the identification of a plant on the basis of diagnostic characters, verifies it using an identification key, and states any uncertainty in the identification. (1.1.3) - Using examples of observed plants, explains the relationship between their occurrence and habitat conditions, and distinguishes their own observations from generalizations that require further evidence. (1.1.1, 1.1.3) - Using a living plant, explains a selected morphological character or ecological relationship clearly and with scientific accuracy to pupils of a chosen educational level. (1.2.1) - Selects a visited site for a specific objective of a school botanical field trip and justifies its suitability with regard to observation opportunities, season, safety, accessibility, and nature conservation. (3.3.5)
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of morphology of vascular plants.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

100% attendance. Identification test covering the basic plant species demonstrated during the course.
