Course content
- The importance of soil in the ecosystem (comparison of individual ecosystems). - Soil organic matter and its transformation. - Nutrient cycles in the soil (nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur and microelements). - Selected chapters from soil microbiology and enzymology. - Ecology of individual groups of soil organisms. - Anthropogenic impacts (management, erosion, pollution) on soil quality and biological activity.

Learning outcomes
To familiarize students with soil function in the terrestrial ecosystem with the most important factors determining soil properties and the role of soil organisms in the decomposition of organic matter and in the transformation of nutrients and their release for plants.

Oral exam

Exam - good knowledge and orientation in theories related with soil ecology, zoology of soil biota and microbiological processes.
