Course content
This study discipline follows on from the basic course in Pedology (Soil Science) and puts greater emphasis on the individual sections of soil formation, soil classification and the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of soils. It also focuses on the issues of soil quality, basic types of soil degradation, acidification and alkalization of soils, salination, intoxication of soils by potential risk elements and organic risk substances. Attention is given to monitoring extraneous substances in soils, the use of geographic information systems in soil monitoring, approaches to improvement and renewal of soil quality, protection of the soil fund and legislative changes. Methods of research, analysis and evaluation of soils focus on specific doctoral studies of participants according to current methods and research results.
