Course content
Definitions of Terms: Landscape, Landscape Ecology; the history of the position within the spectrum of natural sciences. The system character of landscape approach - landscape ecology dimensions. The landscape structures: matrix, corridors and patches; types of landscape pattern. The landscape function : ecological fluxes and ecological relationships in related dimensions (topological, chorological); ecological networks. Spatial heterogeneity as a landscape factor (connectivity and interaction/separation; fragmentation). Dynamic as a feature of functioning; the landscape change and landscape succession. Concept of Island Biogeography; the Metapopulation Concept, the Source - Sink Concept. The Landscape Ecology applications in the Nature conservation and management, Restoration Biology, landscape planning, Water apply management, etc.
