Course content
Introduction to climate change The climate system and its components The carbon cycle and past climate change Impacts on plants and plant communities Impacts on agricultural ecosystems and soils Impacts on aquatic ecosystems (freshwater and marine) Impacts on Arctic and high-mountain ecosystems Impacts on society, populations, and urban ecosystems Impacts on biodiversity, species ranges, and ecosystem services Mitigation of and adaptation to climate change in ecosystems Political and social aspects of the impacts of climate change on ecosystems

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Demonstration, Projection (static, dynamic), Laboratory Work, Group work
Learning outcomes
Interpretation of evidence for climate change and its impacts on natural components. Distinguishing between observed trends, model projections, and future development scenarios, including their uncertainties. Interconnected impacts on soil, water, organisms, and ecosystem services. Assessment of the benefits, limitations, and potential conflicts of mitigation and adaptation measures. Critical evaluation of scientific and media communications on climate change.
Student: - explains the causes of current climate change and the mechanisms of its impacts on selected natural components; - links changes in climatic conditions to the response of organisms, communities, and ecosystems using a specific example; - interprets a presented graph, map, or data series and distinguishes observed developments from model projections, including fundamental uncertainties; - compares selected mitigation and adaptation measures and justifies their suitability and limitations for a specific ecosystem; - using scientific sources, critically assesses a selected public statement about climate change.
