Course content
1. Water - characteristics, types, methods of production of drinking water. 2. Microorganisms /bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoan/ - characteristics. 3. Interactions of microorganisms and environment. 4. Microbiological workplace. 5. Microorganisms and element cycles in nature. 6. Identification of microorganisms. 7. Occurrence of microorganisms in water environment. 8. Microbiological analysis of drinking water. 9. Waterborned causers of diseases. 10. Wastewater treatment. 11. Control and regulation of wastewater treatment. 12. Excursions in Wastewater Pump Station and Drinking Water Production Station.

Learning outcomes
The course is focused on the occurrence of microorganisms in water.
Student should be able to (after attending the course): - Describe environmental condition for water microorganisms. - Analyse surface water according to norms and classify the purity. - Characterise underground water, streams and water wells. - Named selected water microorganisms.
