Course content
|
1.The subject of forest law, basic concepts and institutes, land determined for the fulfillment of forest functions, relation to other sectors (agriculture, hunting, water management, nature and landscape protection). The forest as a part of the environment. Development and structure of forest property in the Czech Republic. 2. Forestry legislation, international (EU) regulations. Basic conceptual documents for forest protection. 3. Ownership of the forest, rights and obligations of the forest owner. Obligations in forest management. 4. Limits of general use of forests by the public. Obligations of a forest visitor. 5. Basics of hunting law. 6. Responsibility for infringement of obligations during forest management. Offenses under the Forest Act and criminal activity related to the forest. 7. Support of the forest owner by the state in managing the forest. Current owner support options and upcoming ecosystem service support options. 8. Forest management and climate change - legal basis.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the optional course is to understand the issues of forest law, protection of forest as a part of the environment, interconnection of forest law with issues of hunting, agriculture, landscape protection, climate law etc. Students will acquire knowledge in this certain area of law, get acquainted with the basic issues of Forest Act, the rights and obligations of the forest owner, obligations of forest management, the obligations of forest visitors, the activities of state forest administration authorities, the activity of forest manager and forest warden etc. Furthermore, the course will include the issue of public (general) use of forests, state support of management of forrest owners, and the issue of offences and crimes related to the forest. The aim of this course is the application of these regulations in practical cases, analysis of existing jurisprudence in the field of forest law, solution of case studies, discussion of key issues of this branch of law, acquisition of skills related to the forest ownership. The courses also include the solution and discussion of international (EU) forestry legislation with regard to climate change and discussion of the possibilities of amending the Forestry Act.
Students will acquire basic knowledge of forest law, which they can use in practice mainly from the position of a forest owner, but also as a visitor to the forest, or the state forest administration body or other related state or self-governing bodies.
