Learning outcomes
The studentss will learn about The European Company (also known by its Latin name Societas Europaea or SE) which is a type of public limited-liability company regulated under EU law. The European Union facilitates cooperatives wishing to engage in cross-border business, by making legislative provision which takes account of their specific features. It allows the creation of new cooperative enterprises by natural or legal persons at European level. It ensures the rights of information, consultation and participation of employees in a European cooperative society (SCE). But European company law is also an emerging field of legal scholarship, which concerns the formation, operation and insolvency of corporations in the European Union. There is no substantive European company law as such, although a host of minimum standards are applicable to companies throughout the European Union. All member states continue to operate separate companies acts, which are amended from time to time to comply with EU Directives and Regulations. There is, however, also the option of businesses to incorporate as a "Societas Europaea", or "SE", which allows a company to operate across all member states. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
Students will learn about European Company and business in the EU and learn the proper use of relevant German terminology.
