Learning outcomes
|
The course introduces to the European administrative tradition in a way that gives students insight into the development and the functioning of the Roman state and criminal administration. After the initial introduction of sources and state authorities, attention is focused on their competence, cursus honorum, hierarchy and procedural law. The main part of the interpretation is focused on the law of the Justinian, which forms the very basis of the European administration and its heritage can be found in our state administration. Teaching other than lectures it also includes seminars where students are always discussing a more defined institute or the principle they have prepared for.
Ability to cooperate in small groups, finding justice for all participants in the state administration process.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Mark, Written exam, Student performance
The exam is written, consists of 2 questions and the student must correctly answer at least 75% of the required content. Admission to the exam requires active participation in seminars. From 6 seminars per semester (always 2 hours seminar), 1 forgiven abstention. More absenteeism is to be replaced by a seminar work on a topic that was discussed in the absentee seminar.
