Lecture Topics: 1. Creation of Legal History as a scientific discipline, enlightment legal science, Legal History in the Czech Law Faculty 2.The development of Czech Legal History in the 20th century, the school of Legal History, legal historiography between the wars, methodological fundamentals of Legal History, the review and typology of sources, interdisciplinary cooperation 3.Corona Regni Bohemiae and the changes of government models 4.Legal particularism and the character of law in the middle-ages and early modern ages 5.Provincial and municipal law 6.Creation of modern law and the legal development from Enlightment to 20th century 7. The fundamentals of modern organization and administration 8. Forming of national identity and the state requirements of the 19th century 9. Creation of Czechoslovakia and the state development during the First Republic 10.The fall of democracy and constitutionalism; tools of communist dictatorship 11.Criminal law 12.The relation between the State and the Church Seminar Topics: 1. Learning outcomes
|
This subject introduces the students to the historiographical and methodological fundamentals of the Czech legal history. The attention will be focused on the closely connected problems of the Czech state and the statehood in the Central European context, the problems of sources of law and the basic differences between the old law and its modern interpretation (since the end of 18th century).
The students who have completed this course will gain the knowledge necessary for correct understanding of the development of the Czech legal order.

Mark
In order to get the credit it is essential that the students attend the seminars in the scope set by the seminar leader. They must pass the final written examination.
