Course content
Lecture Topics: The concept and the subject of criminal proceedings, the basic principles of criminal proceedings. The basic principles of criminal proceedings. Persons of criminal proceedings: the accused, the defense counsel. Persons of criminal proceedings: the injured, the participant. Evidence in criminal proceedings. Detention of the accused, especially custody. Stages of criminal proceedings: pre-trial proceedings. Preliminary hearing. The trial. Standard remedial measures. Non-standard remedial measures. Specific forms of criminal proceedings. Seminar Topics: The concept and the subject of criminal proceedings. The sources of procedural criminal law. The interpretation/explanation of the criminal procedure. Preliminary questioning. The basic principles of criminal proceedings. Powers and competence of the courts. The accused, the defense, the injured, participant. Evidence. Detention of the accused, especially custody. Pre-trial proceedings. Preliminary hearing. Special ways of proceedings. The trial. Standard remedial measures. Non-standard remedial measures.

Learning outcomes
The third term is dedicated to the study of procedural criminal law, which regulates criminal procedure, i.e. the procedure of bodies in charge of criminal proceedings so that the crimes can be found out and the wrongdoers punished according to the law. Students will be introduced to the basic principles on which the criminal proceedings are based. The subject deals with specific parts of criminal proceedings, which, according to the rules of criminal procedure, have many procedural rights and obligations. It also deals with particular phases of criminal proceedings, including the possibility of deviation in the standard criminal proceedings. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
Students who have completed this subject will gain knowledge of the process of criminal procedure, the powers of the courts and the rights and obligations of particular procedural subjects in the particular phases of criminal procedure.
Prerequisites
Completion of this subject is conditional upon completion of Criminal Law 2.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark

In order to get the credit the students must have a regular attendance in the scope set by the seminar leader and they must pass the written test from the procedural criminal law. The subject is completed by the final exam. The student is required to work with the learning objects, which have been created for the concrete subject and are available for authorized students in LMS EDIS.
