Course content
Seminar Topics: Subject, position and tasks of criminology. Methodology and methods of criminological examination. History of criminology and the development of the basic criminological studies. Phenomenology of crime, etiology of crime. The personality of wrongdoers and their typology. Victimology. Control and prevention of crime. Narcotics crime. Female crime and juvenile crime. Violent and morality crime. Crime against property and economic crime. Organized crime.

Learning outcomes
Criminology is an interdisciplinary field studying extent, structure, development and dynamics of criminal behavior, causes and conditions of pathological behavior and its control. Criminology is focusing on victims (victimology) and offender's personality. First of all there are discussed the general questions of criminology (object, methodology, history, etiology etc.), afterwards the lectures focus on specific areas of criminal behavior, such as juvenile delinquency, violent crimes or organized crime, in the context of the Czech Republic and the European Union.
Students who have completed this subject will gain knowledge of causes and conditions of the criminality, victims and wrongdoers who commit crime in different areas of social life.
Prerequisites
Completion of this subject is not conditional upon completion of another subject.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

In order to get the credit the students must have a regular seminar attendance in the scope set by the seminar leader. The subject is completed by an exam.
