Students of MA programme European Studies with Emphasis on European Law had studied BA programmes with various background, therefore their initial knowledge of European issues is not at the same level. The aim of the course is to provide them with basic insights into integration. Students will be acquainted with the structure of the Union (pillars) and division of powers, paradigms of integration and main theories, institutional framework, interests of the Member States in the integration process and brief overview of the most important common policies in the first pillar. In light of this, it will be unnecessary to open other courses with basic information on general ground on integration. Some issues not covered by any of the other courses will be dealt in the course as well. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
Students who have completed this course will gain knowledge and skills needed as the starting point for completion of specialized courses covering European integration.
