1. Legal Ethics and its role in society, Pro bono, Values in law 2. Impartiality and independence, dignity and credibility, proficiency and professionalism 3. The relationship between lawyers and their clients 4. Conflict of interests, Confidentiality 5. Interrelationships between legal professions, Relationships with third parties, Relationships in the workplace, Codes of ethics and mechanisms to secure adherence to ethical rules 6. Learning outcomes |
In the course Professional Ethics students are introduced to basic principles of professional ethics and responsibilities in the Czech Republic. Besides attorneys the course focuses on other legal professions (judges, public prosecutors, etc.). The course uses practical form of education based on active approach of students, solving case studies, discussions with practicing lawyers and individual student work so that graduates are well-prepared to model situations that are likely to occur in their practice. To complete the course, students submit written assignment - an interview with a practicing lawyer focusing on professional ethics accompanied by their own reflection.
Students who have completed this course will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the features of law. |
