Course syllabus: 1. Introduction to asylum and immigration law 2. International protection and procedure for granting international protection, non-refoulement 3. Residence of aliens - types of residence permits and basic institutes 4. Residence of aliens - short-term temporary residence 5. Residence of aliens - long-term temporary residence 6. Residence of aliens - permanent residence 7. Residence of aliens - residence of aliens from EU member states and their relatives 8. Expulsion and detention of aliens 9. Administrative and judicial proceedings in immigration affairs 10. Legal regulation of individual areas of aliens' life (employment, business, social security, etc.) 11. Citizenship 12. Final practical case-study

Learning outcomes
|
The course focuses on both theoretical and practical aspects of asylum and immigration law. Within the practice students visit asylum centres, participate in legal counselling, search country of origin information, draft procedural documents, may participate in moot court competition etc
In this subject, students will link theoretical knowledge of different branches of law to better understand complex functioning of asylum and foreigners law in practice. They will develop legal skills such as legal analysis and problem solving, legal drafting and others. They will also develop their competence in area of human rights law and acquire deeper understanding of values in law.

|
Student performance
Colloquy is obtained based on active participation of the student in the practical part of the subject and development of appropriate knowledge and skills.
