Course content
1. Basics of medical law on national and international level 2. Medical law from the human rights perspective (right to health care, privacy, physical integrity and others) 3. Lege artis procedure, Health care standards 4. Informed consent, Health care refusal 5. Personal data protection and health care, Confidentiality, Medical records 6. Rights of patients in model situations, Patient's compensation, Immaterial damage

Learning outcomes
This course introduces students to basic elements of medical law in the Czech Republic from the patient's point of view. Interdisciplinarity of the course is provided by participation of students from other faculties of Palacký University. The course uses practical form of education based on active approach of students, solving case studies, managed discussions and individual student work so that graduates are well-prepared to model situations that are likely to occur in their practice. Practical element of the course consists of answering inquiries from the web-based advice service of League of Human Rights and semestral project dedicated to a practical issue.
Students who have completed this course will gain the knowledge necessary to understand the features of law.
Prerequisites
The completion of this course is not conditioned upon completion of any other courses.

In order to pass the course, students are required to actively participate in class and to successfully complete the practical elements of the course.
