Learning outcomes
The objective of the discipline is to provide a detailed analysis of the area of speech fluency disorders - balbuties (stammer) and tumultus sermonis (jabber) using previous and contemporary evidence-based scientific and research findings published by Czech as well as international professionals in the area of speech-language pathology, neurology and other relevant fields. Focus in on the transformation of relevant terminology in relation to WHO and other institutions' definitions, critical analysis of the development of the perception of speech fluency disorders in history and present, classification of disrupted speech fluency from specific perspectives, development of etiologies of speech fluency disorders and their comparison, symptomatology (description of primary and secondary symptoms of balbuties and their effect on disrupted co-verbal behaviour, psychosomatic symptoms, negative effect on the area of self-assessment and communication pragmatics and other consequences. The discipline also includes diagnostics and differential diagnostics, intervention and therapy, prevention and prognosis of speech fluency disorders, comparison of domestic diagnostic and intervention approaches and methods, significant personalities and literature, special methodological and technical aids and instrumentation, and interdisciplinary cooperation.
