Course guarantor provides lectures within the course, updates the content of the course according to current needs, ensures conceptual development of the course and co-ordination of individual components of teaching. Aims: At the end of the course students should be able to: ? orientate themselves in the theory of special education; ? approach pupils with various forms of disability in a humane and pedagogical way; ? be familiar with the relevant legislation and explain how to apply it optimally to the educational process; ? clarify the issue of inclusion and integration of individual groups of pupils with disabilities or disadvantages; ? recognize the specific educational needs of pupils; ? respect the types and kinds of disabilities and propose appropriate measures; ? master the basic procedures needed for pedagogical solutions to the basic problems of inclusion and integration of children and young people into the mainstream education system; ? cooperate with health and social facilities and the family; ? to work with the appropriate technical compensatory aids. Topics: Types and kinds of disability, approach to various forms of disability, school legislation and space for integration, inclusive education, integration of pupils in schools and educational institutions, groups of pupils with specific learning disabilities and behavior in the integration process, cooperation with health and social facilities and the family, technical and compensatory aids at school, a system of special educational counseling.
