The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of ophthalmology in terms of the anatomy and physiology of the eye and vision and the most common visual defects in the population of children and adults. Knowledge about etiology, symptomatology, pathogenesis and treatment options, including vision re-education, will be key. Acquired ophthalmological basics are a prerequisite for a deeper understanding of individual vision defects, or their consequences for visually impaired individuals. Students will also be introduced to diagnostic and re-education devices and tools of both ophthalmologists, vision therapists and orthoptists.
