Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to convey practical knowledge in the field of intervention and therapy for autism spectrum disorders with a focus on the counseling activities of special educators, including the possibilities of their specific application within the framework of counseling activities for persons with autism spectrum disorders. Teaching theses: General intervention approaches for people with ASD using compensatory strategies, didactic, therapeutic, technical and non-technical aids - general and subject-specific intervention procedures. Adaptation of the educational environment and support resources, measures to ensure adequate education of persons with ASD in the Czech Republic and abroad. Linking comprehensive intervention for people with ASD to national and regional strategies (MAP, KAP, etc.). Principles, methods and means of assessment of pupils and students with ASD, specifics, advantages and disadvantages of verbal assessment, its limits. Support measures. Specific intervention approaches for persons with ASD in special educational counseling practice. Specific activities, principles, methods and means of intervention, professional interdisciplinary and interdepartmental relations and professional competences (with occupational therapists, speech therapists, clinical speech therapists, clinical and school psychologists, social workers, primary teachers and preschool teachers, other pedagogical and non-pedagogical workers). Sharing examples of successful and unsuccessful practice. Innovative and alternative approaches and methods in PAS therapy - ABA, cognitive training and neurocognitive therapy, neurodevelopmental stimulation, therapy concepts focused on sensory integration and more. Evidence-based approaches. Specifics of intervention and specific therapy for people with ASD and intellectual developmental disorder from the point of view of a special pedagogue - counseling worker. Specific activities, principles, methods and means of intervention, professional interdisciplinary and interdepartmental relations and professional competences. Sharing examples of successful and unsuccessful practice. Specifics of intervention and specific therapy for people with ASD and impaired communication skills from the perspective of a special pedagogue - counseling worker - non-verbally communicating people with ASD, people with ASD and a secondary (symptomatic) speech disorder, etc. Sharing examples of successful and unsuccessful practice.
The outcomes of the subject are based on partial profile of the subject`s absolvent.
