During the course of studying Addictionology, students will get to know the basic definition of the subject and will get more detailed information regarding the causes of addictions. The discipline will focus on both substance addictions (alcoholism, drugs, smoking) and behavioral addictions (gambling, shopping...). The study will also include information regarding "new addictions", such as addiction to mobile phones (nomophobia) or to the Internet (netolism). and its content will also include methods of prevention in the context of individual addictions and an overview of current research on the development and use of addictive substances, including information on their effects. Students will also gain adequate knowledge about addiction treatment, including applicable therapeutic approaches and interventions, and a comprehensive overview of addiction counseling.
