Course content
The aim of the course is to familiarise students to a basic introduction in the use of digital technology when supporting clients with multiple disabilites including children, pupils and students. The course is designed to promote the use of hi-tech technology and resources specifically focused on alternative and augmentative communication, and particularly tagetted towards clients with learning disabilities, pervasive developmental disorders, specific categories of physical disability as well as those with challenging bahaviour. Methodological and educational procedures will be developed to work with individual clients who will benefit from modern digital technologies. Up to date technology from both home and overseas will be used and promoted with specific learning on multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary working highlighted. This will also include pedagogical-psychosocial and family support along with facilitating effective communication. The academic background within this course will use specific textbooks, diagnostic and didactic aids, software programs, and will include support from specific equipment and aids. The teaching of this discipline will be supported by additional online learning.
