Course content
1. Speech Therapy as a science. 2. Organization of speech therapy. 3. phylogeny and ontogeny of speech. 4. The selected specifically targeted skills. 5. Laterality and communication. 6. Possibilities of speech therapy prevention and education. 7. dyslalia. 8. Disorders of voice. 9. Specific impaired speech development. 10. Disruption speech sound. 11. Dysarthria. 12. Specific Learning Disabilities. 13. Distortion of speech fluency.

Learning outcomes
1. The group of interest and the purpose of speech therapy the position of SLT in the system of sciences, the concept of impaired communication ability (communication disability) (WHO - MKF, ICD and DSM V.) and the conception of SLT in the Czech Republic and abroad. The history of the development of speech therapy - a brief overview of individual stages related to the current concept. Main personalities of interest in the history and contemporary SLT. 2. Organization of providing SLT care in the Czech Republic and in the international context- educational, clinical and social sector of providing. Emphasis on the work of SLTs in the school sector. Collaboration of a special needs educator specialized in SLT with the clinical SLT sector. The origin of institutional SLT care. Relationship to the development of special needs education. 3. Possibilities of SLT prevention in older children and adolescents. Laterality in speech therapy and development of specific partial functions in relation to speech. Bilingualism and multilingualism in speech therapy. 4. Classification of impaired communication ability (communication disability, disorders) - brief description of main types, including specific terminology. Specifics of the types within each age category. 5. Selected types of communication abilities disorder - developmental and acquired language disorders, articulation disorders (child apraxia of speech and phonological disorderes, verbal dyspraxia). Dysarthria. Stuttering (balbuties), cluttering (tumultus sermonis). Voice and resonance disorders (dysphonia, rhinophonia), specific learning disability in older children and adolescents (dyslexia etc.). Fundamentals of terminology, classification, etiology, symptomatology, main logopedic diagnostics and intervention strategies, prevention and prognosis. Interdisciplinary x trnasdisciplinary cooperation of SLTs. 6. Main causes and symptoms of symptomatic speech disorders. Fundamentals of terminology, classification, etiology, symptomatology, main logopedic diagnostics and intervention strategies, prevention and prognosis. Interdisciplinary x trnasdisciplinary cooperation of SLTs. 7. Basic overview of the uses of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). Characteristics of main methodologies and procedures for persons with symptomatic speech disorders and combined speech disorders. 8. SLT devices, didactic (educational) and technical aids, use of computer software in diagnostics and intervention of impaired communication skills in older school age, adolescence and adulthood.
The outcomes of the subject are based on partial profile of the subject`s absolvent.
