Course content
The discipline treats the system and functioning of the counselling.

Suggested topics for students´ individual seminar work: " Musculoskeletal system of humans and related disorders " Nervous system and related disorders " Sensory system and related disorders " Pain and pain management " Medical rehabilitation " Influence of hospitalization on psychological state of the ill. " The effects of prevention from orthopaedics and neurology perspectives. " First aid in practice " Congenital malformations and their effects on further development of an individual Students will write seminar work on a chosen topic in the scope of ten A4 pages. The aim of this course is to provide students with sufficient orientation in the fields of medical disciplines of orthopaedics and neurology. It also aims to provide fundamental knowledge in development of an individual and provision of first aid. The course is organized in propaedeutic format (following the knowledge from somatology and somatopathology). Students will gain general knowledge in these fields with regards to expected level of acquired skills and knowledge of course graduates. Topics: - Basic classification of disciplines,i nterdisciplinary relations - Orthopaedic and neurological syndrome categories, diagnostic and anamnestic methods - Classification of defects, clinical picture, therapy, prognosis and preventive measures realized with the most common illnesses in these medical fields. - Introduction to orthopaedics - Structure and function of locomotor apparatus - Examination methods in orthopaedics - Basic characteristics of inflammatory and cancer illnesses of locomotor system; defects and illnesses of upper and lower limbs;defective posture. - Traumatology: bone fractures, first aid treatments for injuries, orthopaedic prosthetics, amputation. - Muscular system disorders - Introduction to neurology - Neurological exams and fundamental neurological syndromes. - Basic characteristics: peripheral nerve diseases, paroxysmal diseases and diseases of neuromuscular transfer, post-injury brain and spinal cord diseases; vascular and inflammatory diseases of nervous system. - Non- professional first aid - Child development and most common congenital malformations.
The outcomes of the subject are based on partial profile of the subject`s absolvent.
