Course content
The discipline treats the system and functioning of the counselling.

Learning outcomes
The discipline is focused on the principal definition, classification, historical content, terminology, legislative and complex intervention background of Speech-language therapy (Logopedics) in a global view, with the emphasis on the basic comparison of Anglo-American, European, Asia and Middle east, as well Africa and Australian point of view - the context of special needs and inclusive education. ? The group of interest and the purpose of speech therapy ? the position of SLT in the system of sciences, the concept of impaired communication ability (communication disability) (WHO - ICF, ICD 10. and 11. Revision and DSM V.) and the conception of SLT worldwide. The history of the development of communication disability treatment - a brief overview of individual stages related to the current concept. Main personalities of interest in the history and contemporary SLT. ? Organization of providing SLT care in the international context- educational, clinical and social sector of providing. Emphasis on the work of SLTs in the school sector. Collaboration of a special needs educator specialized in SLT with the clinical SLT sector. The origin of institutional SLT care. Relationship to the development of special needs education. ? Possibilities of SLT prevention and intervention over the age groups. Brain voice, speech and language activity importance for speech therapy and development. Bilingualism and multilingualism in speechlanguage therapy. ? Classification of impaired communication ability (communication disability, disorders) - brief description of main types, including specific terminology. Specifics of the types within each age category.Selected types of communication, language and speech needs and disability. Fundamentals of terminology, classification, etiology, symptomatology, main logopedic diagnostics and intervention strategies, prevention and prognosis. Interdisciplinary x trnasdisciplinary cooperation of SLTs. ? Speech development from early age to adulthood, main developmental stages, critical periods of speech development, methods of the stimulation of speech development in different language levels, verbal and nonverbal communication forms, types and co-development. ? Basic overview of the uses of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). Characteristics of main methodologies and procedures for persons with symptomatic speech disorders and combined speech disorders. ? SLT devices, didactic (educational) and technical aids, use of computer software in diagnostics and intervention of impaired communication skills in older school age, adolescence and adulthood.
The outcomes of the subject are based on partial profile of the subject`s absolvent.
