Students are introduced to the literature of the second half of the 19th century. They master the basic principles of analysis of selected literary works.

This course describes literature originating within the Czech 19-century nationalist movement, specifically in the 2nd half of the 19th century. Important authors and literary movements are introduced. Topics include: Masaryk's realism, social literature, women emancipation.

Presentation of a seminar thesis providing individual analysis of a specific poetic work at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. Attendance rate of at least 70%.
