Course content

Introduction to the literary history of European and world literature based on the analysis of works of selected authors.

I. - III. Summary and characteristics of the most distinctive artistic movements, trends, and groups in the twentieth century. IV. - V. German literature of the twentieth century. VI. - VII. English literature of the twentieth century. VIII. - IX. Russian literature of the twentieth century. X. - XI. French literature of the twentieth century. XII. - XIII. Twentieth-century literature from other nations. After the introductory lessons summarizing each region, attention will be given to individual representatives of the given national literature. This will include a brief annotated profile of each author, a selection from his or her works, an annotated analysis of a particular literary issue or situation from which the work of the author has resulted or which he/she directly portrays, and the overall literary context.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Analysis of Creative works (Music, Pictorial,Literary)
70% attendance rate at seminars, presentation of a seminar thesis analysing a literary works of the given period.
