General explanations of functional and formal morphology, relation of morphology to linguistic disciplines. Description of the shape system of the contemporary written language. Functional interpretation of morphological devices. Introduction to basic and non-basic word types. Characteristics of nominal categories and individual word types (nouns, adjectives, pronouns and other deictic words, numerals). Special attention is paid to developmental tendencies.
