The aim of the course is to present literature for children and youth as a distinct and fully-fledged part of national literature and to contribute to the own qualified interpretation of classic and contemporary texts of children's literature. The course will focus on the definition of basic concepts, and attention will also be paid to folklore as part of children's and young people's reading (fairy tale, fable and legend in children's literature, folk tale, the most important collectors), the author's fairy tale, poetry for children and young people, narrative prose with a child and adolescent hero, adventure literature and historical and biographical prose. Attention will be paid in particular to literary works written before 1989. A sub-objective is also to clarify the basic features of trivial literature and to introduce the audience to its typical forms in literature for children and young people.
